Each of the many small communities in Palliser's Country had its own cemetery. As the region's population has dwindled, most of the cemeteries have become disused.
Some of these small cemeteries can still provide a personal memorial site, and they may be very appropriate as the final resting place for former ranchers or farmers. Burials can be arranged in some of these sites.
Two cemeteries can be found near Manyberries. The well-maintained Manyberries Cemetery is just on the west side of the village. The Little Knoll Finnish Lutheran Cemetery is just northeast of Manyberries. From the Manyberries intersection, go three miles north, one mile east and one mile north (NE 06-06-05 W4). That web site records the burial of 53 persons.
Since 1991, the Medicine Lodge Coulee Heritage Society has located and restored many of the cemeteries near the Cypress Hills in Alberta. This work has been under the leadership of local historian David Carter, with the assistance of Bob Brown, the Ken Sailer family and the Elkwater Hutterite Colony. New volunteers are always welcome.
The following information has been supplied by Mr. Carter. For further information, please contact:
