The Taylor Millennium Project will help students meet or surpass standards set out for the Florida Comprehenisve Achievement Test (FCAT). This will be accomplished through the use of existing computer technology and the web to create a new learning experience.

Improve Student Performance

Based on the requirements of the benchmarks in the Sunshine State Standards, the table below indicates the approximate proportion of FCAT items classified as Level I and Level II.

To achieve grade level, students must demonstrate reading skills at Bloom’s Level II. The Millennium Project situates the teaching of reading in the realm of Bloom’s Level II skills – analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. By Year 2000, the Millennium Project proposes to have 85% of Taylor County High School’s tenth grade scoring at or above state cutoff scores on the FCAT Reading.

Significant Technological Improvements

The Millennium Project takes a good idea gone wrong and makes it right. We would take a high school with a hodgepodge of computing platforms and transform an unworkable mishmash of technology into a streamlined, savvy learning tool.

Using a web-based multimedia delivery system, the Millennium Project places instruction in a collaborative environment where teachers are facilitators of learning. The project adds new and reallocates existing technology resources. It offers comprehensive teacher inservice to change instructional delivery and better address the Reading Benchmarks of the Sunshine State Standards.
